How to choose fencing shoes

Fencing moves differently from any other sport. Here's what to look for, and which AZZA shoe fits how you fence.

What matters in a fencing shoe

Grip

Fencing is starts, stops and lunges on an indoor piste. Look for an outsole made for that, not for running.

Stability

Your front foot lands wide on every lunge. A supportive shank and heel help the shoe resist twisting.

Cushioning

The heel takes the impact of each lunge. Cushioning matters over a full training night or competition day.

Protection

The back foot drags and the toe wears fast. Reinforced toe and lunge zones make a shoe last.

See how AZZA builds each of these on the performance page.
